Apalachicola is a beautiful historical community of approximately 2,400 full time
residents, and thousands of visitors each year. We are located in the Panhandle
of Florida, and nestled among the Gulf of Mexico, the beautiful Apalachicola River
and the Apalachicola Bay. Apalachicola was founded in 1831 and served as the third
largest port on the Gulf of Mexico. Apalachicola is known for its historical homes
and buildings and for the abundance of fresh Florida seafood.
We are proud of our community and the efforts our officers and employees make daily
to ensure our city is a safe and peaceful place to live, work and visit.
The Apalachicola Police Department is committed to the prevention of crime and the

Our mission is to promote and maintain an atmosphere of safety and security within
our community, through highly skilled employees, dedicated to the protection of
constitutional guarantees, maintenance of order, and safe-guarding of life and property.
To continue to improve and increase personnel within the department to keep pace
with growth. To continue to improve and increase equipment to stay abreast of technological
advances. To promote existing systems. To foster a positive and enriching work environment
which offers career developments, challenge and reward. To maintain an efficient
and effective organization for the delivery of police service. To incorporate the
principals of community and problem oriented policing into the everyday duties of
the employees, and to work closely together with the residents of Apalachicola in
ways to solve the problems of crime, the fear of crime, physical and social disorders
and neighborhood decay. To develop strategies promoting team work, unifying the
efforts and goals of all members to foster a sense of trust, integrity and a positive
sense of worth within the department. |
